Make sure your TV supports sound with your connection type, or use a separate audio TV or monitor unless it supports picture-in-picture. Use only one video source per monitor device. I am sorry but I honestly don't think you wil be able to get the HDMI ports working again.Turn on the TV before turning on the computer. I an quite suprsied to see that even three years later the same thing is still hapening to HP customers. I can't stress how frustrating this whole thing has been. The Asus is very reliable and their HDMI outouts have never let me down. I have always bought HP laptops and I had a quad core prior to the I5 but I have now had to replace the HP i5 with an Asus. This problem was about three years back and none of the susequent updaes have rectified the probelm and the HDMI output still doesnt work. What the point of paying £500 for a top spec laptop only to discover the only way you can get a projector to work with your laptop is by using prehistoric VGA leads. This cost me £50 and he then infromed me that hw had tried abolutely everything but he could get the HDMi's to work again.

So nobody would accept resposibilty for my laptop becoming useless to DJ/VJ with as the HDMi ports were discoonected.Īfter a few weeks of trying various unsuccesful fixes that had been posted on-line I decided to pay a professional repair shop to repair the HDMI outputs.

I contacted Microsoft and they told me that It was a problem with HP as the update had not effected other brands and their HDMI outputs were still working.

I was quite happy with the laptop until one day I had a WIndows update and the HDMI output stopped wotking I contacted HP and they daid the problem was nothing to do with themand that I needed to contact Mocrosoft about it as it was their update which caused the problem. I bought this HP i5 laptop as I though it would be more than capable of handling the MP3 and video mixing. I have had the very same problem which was terrible for me as I am DJ & VJ (Video DJ). This problem is very common on HP Pavillion Laptops. They wanted me to wipe my whole hard drive and reinstall windows, which might have worked, but it's worth knowing that there is a solution which doesn't require that you wipe your hard drive. One last thing: I worked on this problem with HP phone support before finding this solution. After that the laptop transmitted to the TV just fine.

I got a message warning me that this driver was older than the one I was running, but I over-wrote the current driver with the old one. (When I did that and tried to run the drivers, I would get an error message saying they weren't validated for my computer.) Instead I looked up my model on the HP support site, then manually downloaded the graphics driver, bypassing any help from the built-in HP Support Assistant. First, I didn't use the Intel link that he posted. Instead I tried something like Huffer's solution, but with a few changes. Online, many people say this is caused by not having the laptop outputting the right display resolution, but that was not my problem.
I could still transmit audio, but there was no picture, and the TV said "Unsupported Signal". My laptop had previously connected just fine to the TV but then it stopped working. I had a similar problem to the one in the original post. I had a similar problem and I'm adding info in case it's useful to anyone else.
